Over the weekend, GOP candidates have been stumping in Michigan talking about their 7.6% unemployment rate (anything above 5% is considered an unemployment crisis, and below 2% too little of a job pool) and discussing how they would tackle the issue. The AP reports that voters in “The Wolverine State” believe their peril stems from free trade agreements encouraged by the President and approved by Congress.
So how will the GOP candidates handle this hot button issue when most Republicans support free trade?
That is the ultimate question to be asked. Romney, Huckabee, and McCain will have to take the next couple of days to convince Michigan voters that they have the best position, while taking care not to turn off voters from the rest of the states.
